How Does Invisalign
Work?
You wear each set
of aligners for about 2 weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush
and floss.
As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will
move - little by little, week by week - until they have straightened to
the final position your dentist has prescribed.
You'll visit your dentist about once every 6 weeks to ensure that your
treatment is progressing as planned.
Total treatment time averages 9-15 months and the average number of aligners
worn during treatment is 11-30, but obviously it varies.
The Advantages:
Invisalign's computer
simulation lets us know to the nearest week how long your treatment should
take. It allows you to help design your own smile and see the likely results
on the screen before you commit yourself to treatment. You should usually
only need one impression for each arch of teeth, not the repeated impressions
needed for similar non-computer based techniques. And obviously, it is
more comfortable and better looking than the slower techniques.
